I just returned from a Gonstead seminar in Chicago last weekend.  I have been attending these since I started school to better myself as a Doctor and teacher.  I have the opportunity to learn from the best, some of which actually practiced with Dr. Gonstead himself.

I heard an amazing story at the seminar discussing some old history about Dr Gonstead that I would like to share.  Going back to the beginning, D.D. Palmer founded Chiropractic in 1895. D.D, had a friend, J.B. Olsen, that he persuaded to go to his Chiropractic school.  The two studied and lived together.

J.B. Olsen became the Chiropractor that helped a young engineer named Clarence Gonstead whose family could not find a solution to his rheumatoid arthritis.  Dr. Olsen was able to help Clarence which inspired him to go to Chiropractic school.  In 1923, Gonstead graduated and began to develop his technique which is what I continue to better myself at every day.

The man who told me this story, Dr. Alex Cox, worked side by side with Gonstead as his apprentice and eventually his successor.  As I was listening to him talk I realized the amazing lineage involved.  I have learned from Dr. Alex, who learned from Dr Gonstead, who learned from Dr Olsen, who was very close to the founder of Chiropractic….Daniel David Palmer.

I am constantly trying to duplicate the work of the amazing Chiropractors before me and hope to one day help some younger Docs after me.  Passion and philosophy are a very important part of practicing true Chiropractic and am I very thankful to be a part of it.
