There has obviously been a lot of discussion about Healthcare reform leading up to and since it has passed and just how it will affect us.  My intent is not to discuss the changes that will occur over the next few years, it is simply to say what Healthcare reform means to me.

I can appreciate the aspect that children should not be denied because of a pre-existing condition and some less fortunate need the ability to go seek medical help.  My contention is that we are still too focused on spending trillions for people continuing to get even sicker. Projections by the year 2016 say that we will be spending 4.3 trillion annually on Healthcare which is almost double what we spent last year.  That concedes that we will achieve a much worse level of sickness in just a few short years.  Why do we need to accept that our Health will continue to decline?  Why don’t we invest billions to save trillions on preventative type care.  It seems that everything nowadays is treated with a pill or knife leaving out the fields that are more concerned with getting the body Healthier.  That is what reform should be pushing towards…getting people Healthier.

I can’t imagine when exactly that we veered so far from the path.  When people mention alternative Health some think that it is a new way of addressing problems when in fact, it is the old way of treatment.  It’s just been overshadowed and tucked away over the years by Big Pharma.  It is certainly time to open our eyes towards a Healthier and less medicine reliant future if we are ever to achieve true Healthcare reform.
