Is Our Healthcare System Really Working?

The United States spends more on healthcare each year than any other nation—by far. Yet, when it comes to actual health outcomes, we rank #37 among industrialized nations—and that number continues to fall. Clearly, something isn’t working.
A major issue lies in how we define health. Too often, we equate the absence of symptoms with being healthy. But think about it:
Just because your mouth doesn’t hurt, does that mean you don’t have a cavity?
If you feel great, does that guarantee nothing is developing beneath the surface?
Symptoms are often the last sign that something is wrong. They’re just the tip of the iceberg.
At our office, we’re always ready to help people who come in because of symptoms. But we’d love to see more patients before their problems escalate to that point. There’s no downside to a check-up, and preventative care is one of the smartest investments you can make in your long-term health.
